Our Pledge

100% of profits from Makana Pops will be donated to Jeevika’s Nutrition Garden Programme. Your support will help improve the nutritional health of hundreds of families in a sustainable, organic way.

Many families in India do not get the nutrition they require. Over 50% of women and children in India suffer from anaemia, caused by an iron deficiency. Yet they cannot afford to buy the food they require to improve their diets.

Even the poorest families will often have small plots outside their homes which are often left bare. Jeevika works with the women heads of households to help them use this space to cultivate nutrient-rich vegetables.

What does Jeevika do?

• Provide seeds for growing a diverse range of nutrient-rich vegetables, such as iron-filled spinach.
• Help establish local seed banks so that the women do not need to buy new seeds every year.
• Teach organic farming methods so the food is grown sustainably and pesticide-free.
• Teach new skills such as mushroom cultivation.
• Organise regular meetings for the women to discuss and support each other on issues such as gender-based violence.
• Provide Leadership Training for the women to develop personal skills and seek resources for their families and community.
